Hello friends!
December always seems so far away until you find yourself in the month of November. Despite your best intentions, you quickly realize there is still a lot to do before the holiday season begins.
It is, however, a time to reflect on the past year and the transformation journeys we walked with clients and to bring dignity to spaces.
Every project is important to me, and I never underestimate the responsibility it brings to fulfilling somebody’s dream. There were several projects of various magnitudes the past year. One delightful project, a remodel of three living spaces in a small townhouse, came as a referral from a fellow BNI member. It was very time-constrained, yet we achieved our goal in the limited time span of only 2 weeks! This achievement was only possible through fantastic teamwork and a very cooperative client. Here are a few before and after images.
Wallpaper is one of my absolute favourite products. To my mind, no other application brings so much transformation and beauty to a space other than wallpaper. I am therefore always delighted when a client approves the use of wallpaper, and every time, without fail, the joy and satisfaction of the client are priceless. I work with a wonderful installation team, with years of experience from humble homes to exclusive hotels, who understand wallpaper and no challenge is too big for them. There are various categories of wallpaper to select from, with vinyl and non-woven as the most popular. It is advisable to select from a range with easy care properties, such as scrubbable, strippable, and good light fastness. Often, we also do custom designs. Here are images from some of our completed projects:
A project with extensive alterations and various site teams has its own challenges. Good communication is always key. As a designer, it is important to stay focused and true to the original design path. This brings stability to the process and serves as an anchor for the client during this challenging process. Earlier this year we were part of such a project. It was very satisfying to observe how the once traditional-style house evolved into a home with a classic and timeless appeal. I stayed
true to the design elements of this trusted style by implementing a neutral, classic colour palette outside as well as inside. Besides the carefully selected colours for the walls, I also used wallpaper, custom-printed murals, and lots of texture in the hard and soft furnishings. Several of the existing furniture pieces were refurbished, with some new custom-designed pieces to fit the spaces.
The light fittings were also upgraded. Inside we selected elegant yet modern chandeliers and wall sconces on dimmer switches, as well as floor lamps and table lamps. That gives the client the opportunity to set the ambiance in every room to create a cozy and relaxed atmosphere for themselves and their guests. For the outside lighting, we selected lighting to fit in with the modern yet elegant look of the architecture of the house.
Here are some images that tell the visual transformation story this home went through.
We hope these stories inspire you as much as they’ve inspired us! Wishing you a merry Christmas filled with love, beauty, and the magic of new beginnings.
