Meet Martie
Martie Woehe founder of Sophia’s Decor and Design has spent a lifetime bringing homes to life. South African born, she sets the highest of standards in quality and lasting interior design.
Martie studied her craft at Stellenbosch University and the BHC School of Design in Woodstock. She founded Martie van Rensburg Interiors in Port Elizabeth in 1991, moved to the Western Cape where she worked as a freelance Decorating Consultant for four years and later set up Sophia’s Decor and Design in 2016.
Martie is known for her great depth of knowledge when it comes to interior design. What started as a passion for working with textiles and colour, her range of exclusive hand painted textiles under the brand name of Sophia’s Linen grew to a full on Decor and Design Company. She offers a uniquely personal touch which covers not only residential interiors, but also the corporate and the hospitality sectors
“It’s important to understand textiles and have a firm grasp of the psychology of colour,” says Martie.
“As a designer, I need to be able to ‘read’ my client, to know whether or not they are an introvert or an extrovert, to know what personality type they are and then to be able to pick the type of colours that will go with the mood and setting they are looking for.
“I believe in building a strong relationship with my client which involves trust. My clients need to know that their budget will be used wisely and that they will receive the very best service and quality that is available.”
